For those committed to guiding Portland Jazz Orchestra through to the next level, The Founders are an elite circle of generous donors at or above the $1,000 level. Their strong endorsement helps seal additional philanthropy and paves the path toward organizational longevity.
These contributors are recognized for life as a Founder of Portland Jazz Orchestra, and receive special benefits and privileges for as long as they renew their annual membership at any level.

The Portland Jazz Orchestra brings the highest-caliber big band experience to Portland audiences, combining artistry and innovation in a concert-setting, to produce a comfortable, energetic atmosphere conducive to the very best jazz listening. As Portland’s first professional repertory big band, we are enthusiastically filling this stark void in the city’s cultural scene.
Portland Jazz Orchestra is its own 501(c)3 non-profit that depends on community support to bring quality programs to accessible and desirable venues. Beyond expanding program costs, the rapid development of PJO brings about new capacity-building expenses in order to assist the maturation process by:
- developing and sustaining a year-round concert series of outstanding quality
- building relationships with our audience members
- ensuring fiscal responsibility
- expanding outreach opportunities, and subsidizing a discounted student ticket price
- facilitating smooth day-to-day operations
- providing opportunities for long-term board and administrative development
We offer a variety of means to show your support for quality orchestral jazz in Portland, including tax-deductible cash contributions, artist sponsorships, concert sponsorships and program book advertsiing. In exchange, PJO pledges to offer engaging, challenging and satisfying concerts throughout our community to the fullest extent.
